Software that takes the manual work
out of your business.
I build web platforms and automation for specialist teams: turning spreadsheets, paperwork and repeated manual processes into software that does the job reliably.
Services
How I can help
Practical software solutions. No unnecessary complexity, no buzzword-driven architecture.
Backend & API Development
Robust services and APIs in Go, Python, or TypeScript. Built to be maintained long after the engagement ends.
Full-Stack Applications
Complete web applications from database to interface. The right tools for the job, not the trendiest.
DevOps & Infrastructure
Docker, CI/CD, Linux deployment, and monitoring. Your software running reliably in production.
Technical Consulting
Architecture guidance, technology selection, and code review. Two heads are better than one.

E-Learning Authoring Framework (cmi5 / xAPI)
SCORM courses are uploaded to the LMS as a zip file, and most platforms cap that at around 600MB, which limited the video quality Front Foot Creative could deliver. I built a cmi5 framework that hosts the course remotely and gives TalentLMS, the platform their courses are delivered through, a link instead, so the cap no longer applies. A module is now a React app of about 25 lines built from reusable components, and a typical video-and-quiz module takes around an hour to author, or less with AI-assisted tooling.
ATEX Industrial Compliance Platform
CGS Engineering
CGS Engineering could only serve one factory at a time, because its ATEX inspections needed knowledge and qualifications that could not be handed to anyone else. I built a platform designed to change that: non-certified inspectors carry out the inspection under CGS's supervision, so the business can manage several clients at once. It has an item catalogue, user accounts and permissions, and a reporting dialogue for inspectors, all containerised and running on a server.
About
Hi, I'm Jacob
I'm Jacob O'Neill, a software engineer in Leamington Spa. O'Neill Technology Solutions is just me, so the person you talk to is the person who builds your software.
My first software job was at Bioscope Technologies, a biotech startup where scientists were monitoring biological processes by collecting samples by hand. I started as a volunteer and taught myself web development to build the replacement: pH, temperature and ORP sensors on Raspberry Pi Picos, reporting over REST to a central server on the factory network. The company needed to own the IP in what I was building, so it started paying me and I officially became a professional software developer. It estimated the system would save £250,000 to £500,000 per factory, per year.
After that I worked in a service station coffee shop, studying Harvard's CS50 alongside it and telling every customer about my progress. One regular ran a health and safety consultancy. He hired me to build his compliance platform, and the rest is history.
The work I like best hasn't changed: finding the slow, manual, inefficient parts of a business and using web technology to take them away.
